What is an OverRIDE# code and when is it used?
An OverRIDE# code is a four digit carrier access code. Yell's OverRIDE# code
is 1423. By using an OverRIDE# code you are able to select which service provider
delivers your local / long distance calls.
How does 1423 work?
The 1423 OverRIDE# code routes the call via the local exchange through to the
Yell network, so that you can make calls.
You will need to dial the 1423 OverRIDE# code or have your
PABX programmed for all local, national, fixed to mobile and international calls
should you wish to receive Yell's rates, otherwise your current service provider
will charge you for these calls.
What equipment do I need to use the Service?
There are no equipment requirements when connecting to the service. However,
if your business utilises a PABX you will need to have this programmed with the
OverRIDE# code, otherwise you will need to manually dial the 1423 OverRIDE# code
before each call.
Can I start dialling 1423 right now?
No, you must first register your phone numbers prior to using the service.
Once your phone numbers have been entered in our system you will be notified
that your service is active and you can start making calls right away.
What type of calls can I make with the Service?
With the OverRIDE# Service the following types of calls can be made:
Local calls;
National Long Distance calls;
Fixed Line to Mobile calls;
International calls
What happens to my other calls?
The service does not allow calls to be made other than those listed above.
Examples of calls which can not be made with the OverRIDE# Service include Emergency
calls (000), Directory Assistance (013, 1245) or Premium Services (1900).
This means that if you attempt to make a call to these services using the
1423 OverRIDE# code, you will receive a recorded voice announcement stating that
this call is unavailable with this service.
How do I join the Service?
Sign up here...
If your business utilises a PABX, it is important to
include these details so Yell can arrange for the necessary programming changes
to be carried out prior to using the service.
Is there a contract term associated with this Service?
There are contract options available with the OverRIDE# Service which should
meet all your requirements. If you are a business you will receive even lower rates as a
reward for signing with Yell for a contract period.
Is there an establishment fee for the Service?
There are no establishment fees for signing with the OverRIDE# Service.
Does my phone number stay the same?
Yes, there is no need for you to change your number, or any need for a new
phone or other additional equipment.
Can I still use the Service if I have a contract with another service provider?
Yes, in most cases, registering and using Yell's 1423 OverRIDE# Service will
not effect any contracts you have with any other service providers.
How can I prevent unauthorised use of my phone?
Yell offers call barring, which may be used to prevent unauthorised calls
made from your phone. The following call types can be chosen for call barring
- national long distance, fixed to mobile and international.
This is initially stated when you first join, however you can request these
changes at any time.
Why has another service provider charged me for my calls?
There may be a few reasons as to why this has occurred:
You may have forgotten to dial the 1423 OverRIDE# code; OR
You may have used another service provider's OverRIDE# code when making calls;
OR
If you have a PABX, this may not have been programmed correctly.
If this has occurred, it is important to remember to always dial 1423 before
your desired phone number when making a call or if using a PABX ensure that the
correct programming changes have been made so your calls are made via Yell.
